2.3.0 made elemental matchups matter. 2.4.0 makes your element something you build.

Elements

In 2.3.0 your weapon gave a fixed affinity bonus. Now:

  • Weapons, gear and codexes give points in an element. Your affinity weapon gives 90
  • Levels make points stronger. Each level gives a pick: more damage or resistance per point, more points, or a higher cap. You can reset picks at any time
  • You earn levels by casting that element's spells or reading its tomes. Levels are permanent
  • Every 40 points is a milestone. Your casts can then trigger that element's own effect
  • Investing has a cost. The element that beats yours hits you harder
  • Your existing gear keeps its worth. The Elements tile unlocks at level 10

Affinity weapon upgrades

Upgrade your affinity weapon 15 times with element ingots and an element orb. Each level adds 10 points.

New step encounters

  • Guarded prizes. A monster sits on an orb, a vein or a codex. You see both before you decide: fight for it, or walk past
  • Destinations. Set a place in the distance as your target, and walk there. The Church has element tomes. At the Inn you rest to recover running steps. The Monster Hideout is focused hunting of one monster. At the Hunting Trap your steps roll monster drops. The Abandoned Camp has soldier gear

New materials

Element veins (80 mining power), ores, ingots, orbs, tomes and codexes. Codexes go in a new slot on the back page of your equipment, and each one adds 1 point.

Spells

9 new spells across every element, including the first Grace and Decay spells and talents. Sanctuary brings shields, a new bar next to HP and mana.

Training Ground

Unlocks at level 3. Four dummies that never die, a fight history and a Hardest Hitters leaderboard. Loadouts now cover spells, obols and equipment.

Leaderboards

New boards for steps, kills, PvP, chests, crafting, mining and refining. Rank 1 wears the board's title. Daily boards keep a history of the last six days.

Market

Lower fees, and you choose how long a listing or an order runs. 2.3.0 charged 3% for 14 days.

Thanks for playing. Elements were the system I most wanted to get right, and I think it is finally something worth building around.
